The Position: Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District (BCMUD) invites qualified professionals to apply for the position of Aquatics Supervisor. Reporting to the Parks and Recreation Manager, this position has responsibility for overseeing the planning, organizing, scheduling, and staffing, for the District within the guidelines of the Aquatics budget and District fiscal goals. This position contributes as a Brand Ambassador to sustain the District’s brand strategy and promote The Brushy Creek Life. The Organization: Originally formed as Williamson County Municipal Utility District No. 2 in 1977, Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District provides water and wastewater services, recreational activities and beautiful gardens and parks to the Brushy Creek community. The primary neighborhoods include Brushy Creek North, Sendero Springs, Brushy Creek South, Hillside, the Villages of Brushy Creek, Cat Hollow, the Meadows, the Woods of Brushy Creek and Highland Horizons. The Position: This individual must possess the sensitivity, awareness and skills associated with working with adults and children of all ages while articulating and enforcing the District policies and procedures.
Develop, implement, and evaluate annual program goals, budgets, and objectives of the District’s Aquatics plan maximizing utilization of District facilities and resources which will allow opportunities for program growth, membership development, and meeting the needs of our residents and constituency. This includes, but is not limited to:
Development of a balanced, yet diverse mix of in-house programming based on pool purpose.
Promotion of Aquatics program.
Regulatory code compliance (State and County).
All aspects of safety.
Excellent facility operations in maintenance, sanitation, and chemical control systems.
Implement Aquatics budget by monitoring expenses, preparing recommendations and justifications for needed equipment, supplies, and making appropriate purchases.
Generate reports, organize, and maintain information relevant to the ongoing measurement and analysis of data necessary for the operation of aquatic programs, classes, facilities, and services.
Assist with management of personnel by supervising Aquatics staff ensuring training in program goals and objectives, safety practices, and District policies and procedures.
Conduct, at a minimum, monthly staff meetings and life guarding in-service for aquatics staff, monitor and evaluate staff performance, create staff rewards, and develop performance improvement plans under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Manager.
Direct all general maintenance and cleaning of swimming pool facilities, safety equipment, furniture, and grounds.
Share in general staff responsibilities for facility coverage, program promotions, special events and community relations.
Be a role model to all staff for excellence in customer service in accordance with the District philosophy.
Perform other duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate:
Ideal candidate will have proven ability to function effectively under direct supervision and to develop effective working relationships with fellow team members and the public.
Expert knowledge of Aquatics programming, recreation and leisure programs, swimming pool operations.
Candidates should have the advanced ability to manage team members’ development, including their work activities and their performance, with the goal of optimizing talent. Involves planning for the coaching and development of others, coordinating actions, and addressing performance issues and conflicts. Allocates and assigns human resources in the most effective and efficient manner to support current and evolving business needs.
Candidates will have excellent computer skills required (strong MS Office background preferred).
The ideal candidate will have the advanced ability to organize and plan for task completion. Set priorities, meets deadlines and multi-tasks with minimal supervision. Coordinates activities. Apply project management techniques and skills to implement and manage project-related tasks.
Foundationalability to support and drive team performance by promoting and encouraging participation and sharing of ideas that align with the District’s strategy and goals.
Advanced ability to use all necessary computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office applications, District database and applicable Internet applications, to perform work. Store and back up work as appropriate to the access requirements and sensitivity and security concerns.
And last, but not least, candidates should have the proven ability to translate and convey information effectively, both orally and in writing using a variety of media, to all levels, both within and outside the District.
Minimally Required Education, Training and Experience:
2 years’ experience with operation of an aquatics program at a supervisor or higher, knowledge of USA Swim programming, pool safety, first aid including at least two years prior lifeguard and swim lesson experience.
3 years’ experience supervising and managing others.
Must be First Aid, CPR, AED, Lifeguard and Swim/Water Safety Instructor certified, preferably as a trainer for each area.
CPO (Certified Pool Operator) or AFO (Aquatic Facility Operator) license.
Experience working with the public, especially in customer service.
Must pass a drug screening test and background check.
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license and a driving record which meets current auto liability insurance requirements.
